Leeds 16-20.06.2014
Our Eden Group worked in advance of the visit to creat giant pictures of our ideal lands as discribed by the partner organizations. In the course of the week, we met with the Beam Team, the Elders Group, the Eden Group and the Young Adults Group, as well as visiting Leeds’ museums – the Royal Armouries, the Henry Moore Institute and the City Art Gallery. Some of us climbed the 200 steps to the top of the Town Hall clock tower. Everywhere we went, we were followed around by a rickshaw (bravely pedalled by Ogi) which started off all clack but became visually spectacular moving piece of work which drew attention of all (including the police) taht it passed. On the last day the rickshaw took its place in our magic lands and we had music, food and fun. A lot of new friendships were made, or old ones renewed, and now we can’t wait for Germany and Ireland.
Wiltz 17-21.02.2014
There were 3 groups, a place, the workshop and a series of cultural activities. Preparing everything was a lot of fun, but also raised great expectations. Everything started with a presentation brunch with coffee, tea and french croissant, which does indeed make for a perfect start into the week. The group decided to enjoy the cultural activities in the morning and the workshops in the afternoon. The atmosphere was warm, just like when you are with friends. We spent the lunch time together at the Café Prabbeli. The workshop consisted in creating of a light object for the Nuit des Lampions 2014. To build the “big chandelier” there was a corner with all kind of stuff, ready made and recycling materials. More than 40 people worked together, hand in hand, without any language barriers nor cultural differences, just doing art. It was amazing, to spend these moments together, visiting the “Family of Man” exhibition, the castle of Vianden and doing the climbing activity. On the last evening was the Vernissage with barbecue and DJ Carlos and his Karaoke machine. A great exchange for all participants and great moments that were surely captured forever.
