SKID Sozialkulturelle Integrationdsdienste gGmbH (~social and cultural integration services) is a decentralised NGO in the South of Germany. We work alongside people with disabilities and or mental or psychological handicaps. Our aim is to accompany our clients in achieving individual self-contained lives. We create work and living opportunities in the local community and use art as medium to integrate unorthodox behaviour into the cultural context of a community. In this framework we transformed, since 2008, an old waste dump into an open air workshop. This NATURATELIER serves as a location for creative activities, landscaping, art projects, exhibitions and cultural events. GRUNDTVIG allows us to widen the learning process of our clients on a technical and manual level, a linguistic level and on an inspirational level. Living in a semi urban area this mobility experience will add an international element to their life-experiences. The visits, using the medium ART as joint training background, will allow participants personal encounters including a European aspect and thus challenge their self-understanding and their experience of “difference”. SKID will organise a welcome of the European participants and frame the training in Germany.
