Pyramid of Arts’ mission is to produce exciting artwork, created by people marginalised through learning disabilities and impairments, which can be experienced and enjoyed by the wider community. We tackle the issues of social isolation, exclusion, and lack of opportunity by providing a stable and productive long term environment in which diverse groups of people who have, or wish to develop, creative interests can meet.
We believe that everybody has the potential to engage in creative activity, regardless of disability or social environment. We involve both people with and without learning disabilities in creative arts groups, exploring new ways of understanding and communicating with each other. We believe that this is the best way of getting people involved and working together to create an Arts Community. At Pyramid of Arts we are working with learning disabled artists ranging in age from 13 through to their late 70s. Groups run throughout the year following academic term times. Ideas and themes for artwork come directly from the group members and are then explored and developed throughout the year.
We provide appropriate support, training and education to enable all members to identify a common goal, share experiences and learn to collaborate and communicate.
We employ professional artists for our groups and provide leadership and personal development opportunities for our arts team to ensure the highest standards of artwork
Pyramid of Arts is excited to be taking on the role of the co-ordinating partner in this project as we believe the learning opportunities for ourselves and our partners are immense and will impact positively on the longer term educational and employment prospects of all involved.
